Week 8 Recap – Momentum Swings and Birthday Bombs

Week 8 in the LMFL delivered statement wins and tight finishes as teams continue to jockey for mid-season positioning.

The Vancouver Lomas kicked off the week with a strong 4–2 win over the Steveston Canadians, with Derek Mayson picking up the win and Logan Newman launching a home run to set the tone. However, the Lomas couldn’t maintain the momentum, dropping a 6–1 decision to the Connaught Rangers, where Cuco notched 11 strikeouts in a dominant outing.

The Richmond Athletics edged the Ladner Masters 5–4 behind Nate Thiessen’s solid pitching, while Rob Johnston took the loss. The Richmond Rays added another tough result for the Masters with a narrow 8–7 win, with Jonah Pipke getting the W.

The Connaught Jazz showed their depth in a 7–1 victory over the Langley Hounds, led by Robbie Epp on the mound. A highlight of the week came from Lucas Linde, who celebrated his birthday in style by going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.
