Week 4 Recap – Walk-Offs, Big Bats, and Tight Pitcher’s Duels Highlight LMFL Action

Week 4 of the Lower Mainland Men’s Fastpitch League was packed with everything fans could hope for — walk-offs, home run fireworks, back-and-forth battles, and a few edge-of-your-seat pitching duels.

Let’s take a look back at how it all played out:

Tuesday, May 20 – Comebacks and Power Surges

Steveston Canadians 7 – 6 Ladner Masters
In an instant classic, the Canadians walked it off in dramatic fashion. Jason Turner earned the win on the mound, while Imran Kamrudin sealed it with an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th.
Ladner’s Cam Gray was the story early, going 2-for-3 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI, but the Canadians answered back. Matt Deutsch had a perfect 3-for-3 day, keeping the pressure on before Kamrudin closed the door.

Vancouver Lomas 10 – 1 Connaught Meralomas
The Lomas’ offense exploded behind Randall Thompson’s strong start. Making his LMFL debut, Julian Fast homered in his first at-bat — a two-run shot to remember.
Clint Taylor added two more 2-run blasts, cementing the Lomas as an offensive powerhouse in Week 4. Murray Margolis took the loss for the Meralomas.

Wednesday, May 21 – Drama in the 7th

Langley Hounds 5 – 5 Richmond Athletics
What looked like a Richmond win turned into a late-game thriller. Down 5-0 with two outs and nobody on in the 7th, the Hounds rallied.
Josh Anderson, who also struck out 11 on the mound, tied the game with a 2-run double. Nate Thiessen struck out 12 for Langley in a tightly contested battle, while Richmond’s Sandy Doyle continued to shine with a 2-for-3 performance including a double, triple, and 2 RBI.

Thursday, May 22 – Pitching Takes the Spotlight

Richmond Rays 2 – 1 Connaught Jazz
In a low-scoring pitcher’s duel, the Rays emerged on top thanks to a dominant relief performance by Jonah Pipke, who struck out 9 batters in 3 innings to secure the win.
Starter Evan Willis pitched 4 solid innings. Zane threw 6 strong for the Jazz, giving up only 2 runs on 8 hits with 4 strikeouts. Offensively, Frederico went 3-for-3 for the Jazz.

Connaught Rangers 3 – 2 Surrey Rebels
Another tight contest came down to strikeouts, and Fernando delivered with 12 K’s to lead the Rangers past the Rebels. R. D’Entremont was just as electric with 14 strikeouts in the loss.
