This past weekend, the Ladner May Days Tournament brought exciting fastpitch action to the diamond, with teams battling through intense matchups to claim bragging rights. From Friday night’s opener to Sunday’s championship final, the games were filled with strong pitching performances, big hits, and plenty of drama.

It was a packed Saturday schedule, with standout performances by pitchers like Evan Willis, Rob Johnson, and Nic Neid as teams jockeyed for semifinal positions.

The Canadians and A’s punched their tickets to the finals, both coming off strong semifinal showings.
Championship Final

What a thrilling championship showdown! The Canadians and A’s battled it out in an epic clash of evenly matched teams. The C’s struck first in the top of the 1st with Yoshi Hikida scoring on a James Mauro sac fly.
The A’s roared back in the bottom half, tying it up with Dean Webster’s RBI single, scoring Merrick Roberts who singled to lead off the game, before Ryan Shields launched a 3-run bomb to left, making it 4-1!
The Canadians chipped away in the 3rd as Brad Miller singled & scored on Scott Nehaj’s double, closing the gap to 4-2.
In the 5th, with bases loaded and nobody out, A’s ace Josh Andersen limited the damage, allowing just one run on another Mauro sac fly scoring hikida who singled, to keep it at 4-3.
In the clutch 6th inning, the C’s rallied! Matt Deutsch’s double and Kevin Harmon’s RBI triple tied it up, followed by Brandon Yee’s go-ahead RBI single and Miller’s RBI double to take a 6-4 lead! 20-year-old Nic Neid sealed the deal, shutting down the A’s in their final at-bats to secure the title for the Canadians!

A huge thank you to all the players, coaches, and fans who made the Ladner May Days Tournament a weekend to remember. The LMFL community showed once again why local fastpitch is packed with talent, passion, and great sportsmanship.
