A Final to Remember

The championship game was everything fans could hope for—a pitcher’s duel between two of the league’s best. Tyson Barkman took the mound for Steveston, going 6.1 innings with 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. Opposite him, veteran ace Derek Mayson carried the Lomas with 6 innings of work, giving up 9 hits, 3 runs, and striking out 2.

At the plate, Barkman was unstoppable, going 3-for-3 with a run scored. The Canadians opened the scoring in the second inning with a triple from Creyke and a Barkman single, eventually capitalizing on two wild pitches from Mayson to take a 2–0 lead.

The Lomas clawed back in the fourth, as Mayson doubled to score Creamer, then came home himself on a Matt Dobie single to even the score at 2–2. From there, both pitchers locked in, trading zeroes until the bottom of the seventh.

With the crowd on edge, Steveston’s Yee singled to lead off the inning. An error put runners on first and second, setting the stage for Hikida, who ripped a line drive into right field to score Yee. The walk-off sealed a 3–2 win and the 2025 LMFL Championship for the Canadians.
