We are look into the Week 5 schedule with three postponements (PPD), but the games that did hit the dirt delivered pure excitement. From tight defensive battles to absolute offensive explosions, the action across the Lower Mainland Fastpitch League was nothing short of spectacular.

🏆 Game of the Week: Steveston Canadians Edge Out Connaught Jazz

Final Score: Steveston Canadians 7, Connaught Jazz 6

Winning Pitcher: Jason Turner

This matchup lived up to every bit of its Game of the Week billing on Tuesday night, keeping fans on the edge of their seats until the final out.

The Jazz came out swinging, lighting up the scoreboard with 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Facing an early deficit, the Canadians leaned heavily on their ace, Jason Turner. Turner locked it down after the rocky opening frame, throwing $5.2$ innings, giving up 6 hits, striking out 7, and issuing just a single walk to earn the hard-fought win.

Steveston’s offense chipped away and finally exploded for 4 runs in the top of the 5th to take a slim 7-6 lead. Kevin Harmon paced the Canadians’ bats, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. On the other side, Austin Gooden went the distance for the Jazz, racking up 7 strikeouts over 6 innings, while Zane Davies drove the offense by going 1-for-3 with a single and 2 RBIs.

Ultimately, Turner and the Canadians’ defense shut the door in the final frames to secure an absolute classic.

Langley Hounds 7, Connaught Meralomas 2

  • Winning Pitcher: Sean Greenlay

On Wednesday, the Langley Hounds put together a complete team effort to comfortably handle the Meralomas. Sean Greenlay was masterful on the rubber, tossing 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball, striking out 5, and allowing just 1 earned run to pocket the victory. Mitchell Armstrong paced the Hounds’ offense out of the two-hole, going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.

Steveston Canadians 7, Surrey Rebels 2

  • Winning Pitcher: Rich Haldane

The Canadians kept their hot week rolling on Wednesday, securing a 7-2 win over the Rebels. Rich Haldane came out of the bullpen to throw 4.0 innings of shutout, hitless baseball, racking up 8 strikeouts to earn the win in relief. At the plate, Ron Daines provided the ultimate exclamation point, blasting a home run and finishing the game with 4 RBIs to fuel Steveston’s offense.

Langley Hounds 9, Connaught Rangers 3

  • Winning Pitcher: Josh Anderson

The Hounds closed out their week with plenty of fireworks on Thursday, putting up 9 runs on 12 hits against the Rangers. The game swung wide open in the middle innings, highlighted by a massive 6-run 4th inning from Langley. Josh Anderson did double duty, throwing 5.0 solid innings with 9 strikeouts to capture the win, while Tyler Ewanchuk, Josh Anderson, Jared Barbour, and Sean Greenlay all logged multi-hit performances.

Vancouver Lomas 8, Surrey Rebels 0

  • Winning Pitcher: Tyler Lingren

The Lomas put on an absolute clinic on Thursday night, executing a flawless 4-inning shutout via the mercy rule. Tyler Lingren was utterly dominant, tossing a 2-hit shutout with 4 strikeouts over 4.0 innings to claim the “W.” The Lomas offense wasted zero time, putting up 3 in the first and 4 in the third. Matt Dobie led the charge, finishing a perfect 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and an RBI, while Logan Newman walked 3 times and scored 3 runs to set the table perfectly.
